Frequently asked questions

Straightforward answers for owners, applicants, tenants, and administrators.

What is HostelSet?

HostelSet is a hostel and PG discovery and management platform for property listings, applications, rooms, tenants, rent records, notices, complaints, and operational requests.

How does HostelSet help hostel owners?

Owners use a property-scoped dashboard to manage rooms, tenants, applications, payment proofs, notices, complaints, room changes, vacate requests, and day-to-day operations.

Can tenants apply online?

Yes. Applicants can open a public property page, choose an available room, submit their details and required documents, and send payment proof for review.

How are payments verified?

Payments go to the owner’s displayed payment details. Applicants and tenants submit a transaction reference and screenshot, which authorized owners or administrators review.

Can owners manage multiple properties?

Yes. Owners can add multiple properties and switch the active property in their dashboard while keeping rooms, tenants, and operations property-specific.

Does HostelSet support tenant complaints?

Yes. Tenants can raise complaints from their dashboard, and owners can review, respond to, and resolve them through the existing complaint workflow.

Is security deposit separate from rent?

Yes. HostelSet tracks the application or security deposit separately from monthly rent so each payment has a clear purpose and verification status.

Can existing tenants be imported?

Yes. Owners can generate a secure import form for existing occupants, review each submission, and approve it before the tenant account is activated.

Does HostelSet support notifications?

Yes. Role-based notifications help owners, tenants, and administrators notice relevant payment, application, request, complaint, and operational updates.

Can admins manage properties and tenants?

Yes. Authorized administrators can review platform records and manage properties, tenants, owners, applications, payments, memberships, and operational requests from the admin dashboard.

Should a tenant register?

No. New tenants should not create an account directly. They should browse hostels, apply to a property, and use the tenant account access shared after owner approval.

How does a tenant get an account?

A tenant applies from a public property page or is added/imported by the property owner. After approval or owner setup, the tenant receives account access and login instructions.

How does an owner start?

An owner starts with Register Your Property, creates an owner account, submits property details, then manages rooms, tenants, rent, notices, applications, and requests from the owner dashboard.

Can an owner use tenant login?

No. Owner accounts must use Owner Login. Tenant Login is only for active tenant accounts that belong to an approved or owner-created tenant record.

Can tenants access owner features?

No. Tenant accounts can access tenant features such as payments, notices, complaints, room change, and vacate requests. Owner tools remain restricted to owner accounts.
